Never a dull moment for the Horn Studio. Cleaning off about 2 inches of ice using the ice bucket and lid from the hotel room.
Freshman Horn Major, Ben Blackmon, trying out one of the many horns on display at the exhibits.
The high school kids from the 2015 GRU Band Camp being silly...as usual.
Junior Performance major, Ben Blackmon, receiving instruction form Manuel Perez Ortega of The Spanish Brass on 9.18.15.
Ben Blackmon and I were very fortunate to hear Eric Ruske play and meet him on 10.30.15 at Georgia Southern University. It was such an inspiring experience.
Ben Blackmon with Dr. J after performing the Dukas Villanelle with the AU Orchestra. He was the first horn player to win the Concerto Competition at AU in over 20 years!
During the Summer of 2016, Dr. J was invited to perform at the International Horn Symposium held at Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY. He was part of a group that premiered a brand new horn choir piece by Andrew Boysen, Jr., written in honor of the late Dr. Virginia Thompson. Dr. Thompson was the Horn Teacher at West Virginia University for over 20 years, and served as Dr. J's teacher and mentor during his doctoral studies.
Fall 2017: The Horn Studio is happy to announce that we will have two new majors beginning in the Fall. We are pleased to welcome Olivia Ladun and Samantha Jiminez to the Horn Family!
